What is mindful eating?
Eating mindfully is when you are fully aware of what’s going into your mouth and your body! Listening to your body. When you feel hungry what is your body asking for? When you are eating, are you actually taste the food, smelling the aroma, do you feel the texture in your mouth?
Have you ever eaten a meal or a snack and don’t even remember what you ate or what it tasted like? Have you ever finished a bag of chips and didn’t realize it? You weren’t eating mindfully!
Practicing mindful eating can be tricky to do, especially if you are used to eating mindlessly. This guide will give you tips, intentions and exercises to assist you in eating mindfully.
Honestly, this is hard for me. I do try to chew my food but I tend to still eat really quickly and am usually paying more attention to the boys or talking while I am eating. I am going to try to do this more often and see what changes in my wellness and my relationship with my meals.
Give it a try; you will notice a difference in how you eat throughout the week. Of course, it is okay to have family dinners where you talk about your day or you may eat lunch while finishing up work on the computer. This is an exercise to slow down and savor the meal and become more intentional about your eating. Happy eating!!
Practicing Mindful Eating not only transforms your health, but your relationship with the foods you ingest.
