On this Mother’s Day, I reflect on the kind of mom I am, I have great mommy moments and BAD ones too. PM me for those stories….. Either way according to Wikipedia – “Mother’s Day is a celebration honoring the mother of the family, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society.”
Now that the kids are in the double digits, I am aware of the limited time I have left before they leave for college. The influence I have on them has not only shape their lives but has shaped my own. I don’t know what kind of women I would be without those smelly kids. Yes! They make me crazy, the best is when the big one’s hormones are raging ( wow, I love teenagers) and I’m being yelled at while being laid on and asked to scratch his back with only my nails.
I feel them trying to pull away while holding on tight. OMG , I’m getting choked up just writing this. I want to keep them young but at the same time, I know that they have to live and grow. Boy, it’s so hard to imagine what life will be like when they really are out on their own. But for now, I will watch their (awful) tv shows and listen to every moment they want to share. No more handmade cards but still moments of love and admiration. I do have to say that I still have flashes of their toddler days, the days where they only wanted me and a baggie of goldfish. I am happy those days are over but still miss their little fat chubby hands holding mine. xoxo-B
